Dis/ORDER is an art group and a design studio, based in Kyiv, Ukraine, and run by Luba Malikova and Max Poberezhsky.
We are multidisciplinary and deal with a wide range of techniques and problems — creating contemporary art and conceptual jewelry.
We have exhibited at leading art galleries and trade-shows in Ukraine and abroad — Saatchi Gallery (London), Art Arsenal (Kyiv), Mercedes-Benz Kyiv Fashion Days, Cream zone at BIJORHCA (Paris), where a brand from Ukraine and the CIS was represented for the first time in decades of Bijorhca’s history. We are finalists of 2015 UK/Raine international contest for young artists by Saatchi Gallery, London; finalists and winners of MUKHI contest of years 2010 and 2011 for Ukrainian young artists, winners of international “Talents” contest for designers at Tendence Frankfurt.
Years of experience working as artists in many visual fields (vj-ing, illustration, happening, art installation and objects) led DIS/ORDER to experiment in designing fashion jewelry through the prism of new media art and technology.
The style of our designs may be described as postindustrial folklorism, avant-garde urban tribal. We use newest materials and technologies, but our ultra modern necklaces slightly remind of archaic jewelry – pectoral, hryvna, torc, pogo etc., which can be found in different historical periods in various ethnic groups in different regions of the world. DIS/ORDER jewellery is meta-ethnic. However, there are vivid references on images recently becoming folklorе – polygonal objects, natural and sociocultural structures described by science (collections 7th Kingdom, Rhizome). And our transparent “ghost” collection raises the question of embellishment as a vestigiality.
As artists, DIS/ORDER currently is concentrated on some art projects on mutation, religion, social transformations and technology.
